Bellydancing is ridiculously fun. It often doesn’t feel like exercise but it’s actually a great way to improve core and leg strength and tone your arms and shoulders. It can also help you to de-stress and explore new ways of moving to and interpreting music. Ideally you should find the movements in a class challenging but fun, like an interesting body puzzle. The technique should be just beyond your abilities but within reach – at a stretch. See below for more information about each of the classes on offer.
If you are uncertain about which class would be best for you email Alice to ask.
This is what it sounds like. We will take fundamental moves and repeat them, a lot, with the aim to improve the strength and clarity of isolations. We will work on basic layering (if you can do the moves separately you can do them together) including footwork, hipwork, chest isolations and arms. This session will help beyond beginner level dancers move up to intermediate level. If you are already an intermediate, drilling will help you refine your technique and accelerate your progression.
Tribal fusion (intermediate)
Explore modern bellydance technique through tribal fusion. A mix of oriental and ATS® with movements from modern dance thrown in for good measure, tribal fusion is a muscular and mentally challenging dance style. In this intermediate class we will work on combinations, tackle choreographies, practice with zils and explore dance through creative exercises. Options are available to choose your own adventure, work at your level or challenge yourself with more difficult technique.
Some dance experience is recommended for this class, email Alice if you are uncertain which class would suit you best.
