The New Globe Theatre, Fortitude Valley
Rehydrate offered an opportunity to enjoy a little, or a lot of everything in one evening. A multitude of dance performances offset by prog rock, punk rock, prog metal and a dash of disco.
Sirène Dance delivered their unique flavour of rock infused dance, and Eunoia Dance Company followed up with even more sensual performances than seen before. Dark Nile brought their innovative fusion style coming off a jaw dropping performance at the Bloodlust Ball. Many more dancers and musicians threw their art into this crazy cauldron.

Tribal and Trance Fest

Tribal and Trance Fest Australia is a biennial tribal bellydance festival that showcases workshops and performances from high profile international artists and premier Australian dancers. Members of Dark Nile performed ATS® as part of Silk Road Rebellion at the Red Carpet event. Alice Knox also performed a solo at the Market Bazaar and Soiree.

Princess Theatre, Brisbane
Acclaimed international Turkish dancer Ozgen returned to Australia with his much anticipated new community dance theatre show Aşk (Love). Produced in conjunction with Soul Dance School of Romani and Middle Eastern Dance, Aşk showcased a cast of professional and amateur dancers to tell two tales of tragic love. Lucy McPherson and Alice Knox performed in this production.

Alice Knox and Dominique van Hoof attended a tribal fusion intensive in paradise with Belly Dance Super Stars, Zoe Jakes and Kami Liddle. Alice performed at Svatura, the event hafla, which featured retreat participants from all over the world as well as their teachers, Kami and Zoe.

Lumière (light) is contemporary bellydance theatre exploring issues of grief, trauma, loss, anxiety and depression through the telling of neo-fairytales, an allegory for modern mental health issues. Set over the course of one evening, the narrative starts at sunset and moves through dusk, dark and finally into the dawn. Alice Knox collaborated with Rita Markwell to perform a duet as part of this show.

Curators of the sublime Opalesque and Kalikah Jade brought together dancers from a range of different styles including burlesque, tribal fusion, modern gypsy and Japanese fusion to create a show that celebrated the beautiful and bizarre.
Dark Nile offered a performance exploring the struggle for individual expression.

October '16 Transmission: 8 Elements Phase IV
The 8 Elements Approach is a multi-phase intensive program taught by tribal fusion innovator and master Rachel Brice. Alice Knox will be attending Transmission, the teacher training phase of this program.
The intention of this process-centered approach is not to teach a set style of belly dance, but to explore the underlying architecture of many dance styles, honoring traditions, while encouraging discovery, excellence, innovation and joy.

Journey Along the Silk Road
"Journey Along the Silk Road" follows a Princess as she searches for three magical ingredients to save her dying mother, the Empress. Take a journey through exotic lands and witness dances from Egypt, Turkey, China and India.
Since 2009, this show has been performed in New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Taiwan, Canada, Japan and Thailand. Dancers from Australia and New Zealand auditioned to be part of the Brisbane production hosted by A'diva Brisbane Bellydance Collective.

The MEDANZ festival is a celebration of all things belly dance.The Festival currently provides 3-4 days of workshops in dance, drumming and related topics, a theatre show, shopping area, Hafla, and lots of opportunities to socialise and network with dancers from all over New Zealand.
Workshops span the full spectrum of levels, with classes designed for beginners through to more advanced dancers. Most workshops offered are taught by New Zealand teachers. This year Leila Haddad and Alice Knox will be teaching at this event.
